  STOVE DOES NOT FUNCTION AT ALL

  1. Check the wall switch
  2. Check the mains distribution board is operational
  3. Ensure the stove is connected by a qualified electrician

  OVEN EMITS STEAM WHEN IT IS IN USE

  1. It is normal that steam escapes during operation. This is not a fault.

  WATER DROPS OCCUR DURING COOKING

  1. Steam that arises during cooking can condense and form water droplets when it comes into contact with cold surfaces of the appliance. This is not a fault.

  PRODUCT DOES NOT OPERATE

  1. The mains fuse is defective or has tripped. Check fuses in the fuse box. If necessary, replace or rest them.
Product does not operate

  TIMERS CLICKING

  1. This is normal. Timers do make a clicking noise.

  OVEN LIGHT DOES NOT WORK

  1. Oven lamp is defective. Replace the oven lamp.
  2. Power is cut. Check if there is power. Check the fuses in the fuse box. If necessary, replace or reset the fuses.

  OVEN DOES NOT HEAT

  1. Function and/or Temperature are not set. Set the function and the temperature with the Function and/or Temperature knob/key.
  2. In models equipped with a timer, the timer is not adjusted. (In models with a microwave oven, the timer only controls the microwave oven.)
  3. Power is cut. Check if there is power. Check the fuses in the fuse box. If necessary, replace or reset the fuses.

  THERE IS NO GAS

  1. Main gas valve is closed. Open gas valve
  2. Gas pipe is bent. Ensure the gas pipe has been properly fitted

  NO IGNITION SPARK IS PRODUCED

  1. No current. Check fuses in the fuse box.
  2. Timer is not set. Set the timer.

  POOR BAKING RESULTS

  1. Is the correct temperature being used (thermofan bakes at 20 degrees lower than Convection)

  KNOBS LOOSE

  1. Knob clip fallen out.
  2. Lock nut loose.

  BURNERS ARE NOT BURNING PROPERLY OR AT ALL

  1. Burners are dirty. Clean burner components
  2. Burners are wet. Dry burner components
  3. Burner cap is not mounted safely. Mount the burner cap properly
  4. Gas valve is closed. Open gas valve.
  5. gas cylinder is empty (when using LPG). Replace the gas cylinder

  KNOBS FADED

  1. Wrong detergent / cleaner is being applied directly onto knob surface - cleaners should be diluted

  THE BURNERS WILL NOT LIGHT

  1. The gas pipe is twisted, bent or kinked. Ensure the gas pipe has been properly fitted
  2. The burners are dirty or wet. Clean/dry the burners components.
  3. The gas cylinder is empty. Replace gas cylinder.
  4. The burner caps are not fitted correctly. Fit burner caps correctly.
  5. The gas pressure regulator is closed. Check to see if the regulator is open.
  6. The lighting procedure has not been followed correctly. Follow the correct lighting procedure.

  HOBS PANEL RUSTING

  1. The correct cleaner is not being used
  2. Recommended clears are :
    • Solid plate black / white hob panel - Chemico Paste
    • Stainless steel hob - Steel Power
    • Ceran / Glass Top hob - Cerepol Smooth Top Cleaner & Protector

  THE FLAME IS YELLOW, POTS AND PANS ARE STAINED

  1. The burners are dirty or wet. Clean/dry the burners components.
  2. The gas is running out. Replace gas cylinder.
  3. The burner caps are not fitted properly. Fit burner caps properly.
  4. The gas pipe is twisted, bent or kinked. Ensure the gas pope has been properly fitted.

  BIG PLATE NOT WORKING (3 PLATE PLUG IN)

  1. Make sure that the selector is on the correct position, as all three plates do not work at the same time.

  SMELL OF LEAKING GAS

  1. Are all the controls knobs in the off position? Check to see the knobs are in the off position.
  2. The gas pipe is fitted incorrectly. Ensure the gas pipe has been properly fitted.
  3. The hose clamps require tightening or replacing. Have hose clamps tightened or replaced.
  4. The regulator is faulty and needs to be replaced. Have regulator checked and replaced.

  THE FREEZER IS RUNNING CONTINUOUSLY OR FOR A LONG TIME.

  1. The ambient room temperature may be high. This is quite normal.
  2. The freezer might have been plugged in recently or might have been loaded with food. Cooling down of the freezer completely may last for a couple of hours longer.
  3. Large amounts of hot food might have been put in the freezer recently. Hot food causes longer running of the freezer until the food has cooled.
  4. The freezer lid might have been opened frequently or left ajar for a long time. The warm air that has entered into the freezer causes the freezer to run for longer periods. Open the lid less frequently.
  5. The freezer lid might have been left ajar. Check that the lid is properly closed.
  6. The freezer is adjusted to a very low temperature. Adjust the freezer temperature to a warmer degree and wait until the temperature is achieved.
  7. The lid seal of the freezer may be soiled, worn out, broken or not properly seated. Clean or replace the seal. A damaged/broken seal causes the freezer to run for a longer period of time in order to maintain the current temperature.

  REQUIRES ROUTINE CLIEANING

  1. Pre-treat finger marks with alcohol or an organic solvent. Follow immediately with routine cleaning.
  2. Minimize re-occurrence by applying a wax or silicone based household polish to the clean dry surface.
  3. Wipe with a little baby oil and a soft lint free cloth. Buff to shine. Apply whenever necessary.

  FINGER PRINTS

  1. Pre-treat finger marks with alcohol or an organic solvent. Follow immediately with routine cleaning.
  2. Minimize re-occurrence by applying a wax or silicone based household polish to the clean dry surface.

  STUBBORN STAINS AND DISCOLORATION

  1. Use a little Ceran cleaning paste. (available from Defy Service Centres) Rinse and dry.
  2. Repeat several times rather than resorting to a single aggressive cleaning method.

  GREASE AND FAT SPLATTER

  1. Wipe off excess with a soft cloth or paper towel. Use a water borne degreasing agent ( dishwashing liquid ).Follow up by routine cleaning.

  SCRATCHES ON THE BRUSHED FINISH

  1. For slight scratches, use a nylon pad loaded with an iron free abrasive polishing compound.
  2. Follow the direction of the original texture.
  3. Follow up with routine cleaning.
  4. For deep scratches use a coarser abrasive initially and follow up as for light scratches.
  5. Deep scratches will be difficult to remove completely. Do not use steel wool or metal scourers unless they are made from stainless steel.
