Making your own puree allows you to play with the taste by adding new ingredients to change the flavour or increase the texture, this variation gives babies an important lesson in the tastes of food. The longer any type of food is exposed to high temperatures, the higher the nutrient loss. This is why it is important to simmer the ingredients at low heat with our XXXXXXX Hob. Not only can you easily control the temperatures with slide control but even heating will gently cook the ingredients so that not burning can occur.

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup boiling water with rooibos tea bag steeped inside
  • 3 Tbsp oats (45ml)
  • 1 Tbsp raisins
  • 1 banana
  • 1 pear (peeled, cored & diced)
  • 1 tsp milled flax seeds (can use coffee grinder)

Method:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and bring to the boil over medium heat.
  2. Reduce heat to low and simmer for approximately 10 minutes.
  3. Transfer mixture into a blender and puree until desired consistency is achieved.
  4. Allow to cool before serving.
