Rooibos Baby Brekkie
Rooibos Baby Breakfast1

As winter begins to reach its peak and the uncertainty of COVID-19 continues to loom, strengthening your baby’s immune system with plenty of mineral-rich foods is a must. Our Rooibos Baby Brekkie recipe is filled with plenty of vitamins, natural fibres and the multiple health benefits of South Africa’s unique Rooibos tea.

Why rooibos tea?

Rooibos is naturally sweet, caffeine-free, calorie-free, and rich in antioxidants. It is known to soothe colic and digestive discomfort, relieve teething gums and promote better sleep. Filled with zinc, iron and calcium, rooibos is perfectly safe for your baby to drink. However it is important to remember that you should only feed your baby natural rooibos tea, this means no honey, sugar or milk.

Why you should prepare your own baby food.

Preparing your own baby food is a fast, inexpensive, and a more nutritious option to purchasing foods that have been sitting on a grocery store shelf. By making your own meals according to your weaning baby's stage, you will be making a conscious effort to raising a healthy, adventurous eater. The jars of baby food you purchase from stores are all of the same or similar textures. They can be quite bland and offer a lack of variety. It’s important to introduce your weaning baby to a wide variety of foods and different textures, this means avoiding developing fussy eating habits later on in life. With the help of Defy’s life tested, family-approved blenders, we can help you retain the most important nutritional value your baby needs.

Homemade goodness is easy with our Personal Blender and fast heating kettle.

Freeze leftover pure for simple, waste-free brekkies.

HELPFUL TIPS:

To ensure your puree is smooth and easily digestible, finding the right blender is key. Defy Personal Blender is perfect for transforming all the real, non-processed wholesome foods into a tasty, thin texture that can help your baby transition into a more healthy diet. You can even transfer the leftover pure into an ice tray and freeze it for the rest of the week’s breakfasts. It’s a simple, waste-free solution!

There’s no need to worry about taste as cooking the banana and apple over the pan will instantly caramelise the natural sugars and enhance their overall flavour. Making your own puree allows you to play with the taste by adding new ingredients to change the flavour or increase the texture, this variation gives babies an important lesson in the tastes of food. They are given the opportunity to taste, see, and smell the natural taste of fresh food. Don’t worry about making a mess, you and your baby are discovering new and exciting things together

The longer any type of food is exposed to high temperatures, the higher the nutrient loss. This is why it is important to simmer the ingredients at low heat on your Defy hob. Not only can you easily control the temperatures with slide control but even heating will gently cook the ingredients so that not burning can occur.
